The problem I have with almost every TF wanna-be mod released nowadays is that it tries TOO hard to give the game realism. TF wasn't fun because of any sort of realism... it was fun because of the things people found they could do. It became a test of learning the abilities of each class and utilizing them in ways that nobody had done before. If I can't rocketjump, it's no fun for me. If I can't be sniped across the map to a strategic vantage point by a single shot from a team sniper, it's no fun. TFC, Q3TF, etc, etc... they all prevent you from doing the fun tricks by making things too realistic. Aim a rocket launcher at your feet, jump and fire at the same time, and all you're going to end up doing is dying. To hell with that.

yea i agree. i hope ETF has some of the same quirks from QWTF.

i used to love sliding down walls and conc jumping across maps!

I've only found a few TFC servers that disavowed rocket jumping or conc jumping, or any other weridness, and they were all some screwed up modded iteration, like NeoTF or whatever others they have for TFC.

ETF seems to follow this, alot of rocket jumping was going on in the game I got to, plus the HWs are done like in QTF, with their miniguns making them immobile, but being hyper accurate. My only thing about it is that even though I see every aspect is like normal TF, it still FEELS like I'm playing quake 3 arena, I know it's the same engine and all the same gib effects are in, but I wanna feel somewhat detached from Quake 3...

Though I do admit that since it's supposed to be QUAKE team fortress, feeling like Q3 is better than feeling like Half-Life, like in TFC :P
